Wednesday was more than just a clean-up. It was a coming together of hearts.
Staff from across the Albatross Group of Companies joined hands for an Albatross Care initiative at Little Brinks Helping Hands — and we left changed. What began as a mission to tidy and remove rubbish quickly transformed into something far deeper: a union of hearts, not titles.
Led by Guinalda Nash, the heart that is the beat of this team, and Paul Webb who ensured we were all well fed and fuelled, the day marked the beginning of something powerful.
Although Roger Brijlal and other members of staff couldn’t be there on the day as they were holding the fort and keeping the wheels of Albatross turning, they were with us in spirit and checked in throughout to make sure everything ran smoothly.
There were no job descriptions or office roles — just people, shoulder to shoulder, getting stuck in to assist the incredible Katherine Brink, who continues to pour her soul into feeding families, sheltering the abandoned and abused, and turning despair into dignity.
We scrubbed, lifted, sorted, cleared… but most importantly, we connected — with each other, and with a cause so full of love and purpose. By the end of the day, the space looked different — but so did we.
Here’s to hope, to hard work, and to humanity.
And here’s to Katherine — a true force of compassion, creating a safe space for the lost to be found and the helpless to feel hopeful.
